“Do your part” to prevent the spread of Covid 19 reads the large label found on the bag held by Pascual Torres, Honduras Executive Director. It holds flour, cooking oil, rice, and other food staples provided monthly to the 60 HIV-positive patients who live on less than $2/day and must maintain a sufficient diet to avoid becoming sick.
During our Zoom call, Pascual reported the social fall-out from the pandemic. “You would not believe the number of people you now see begging on the streets. There are hundreds of people. I saw a young boy with his index finger held up asking for 1 lempira (< 1 cent).”
In Honduras, HIV is driven by the virus and poverty. We are grateful for your support in helping to keep people living under immense hardship healthy and safe.
