“Today is Father’s Day in Honduras,” Pascual Torres, our Honduras Executive Director, wrote last month. “It is not celebrated with the same reverence and joy as Mother’s Day. Nevertheless, the female personnel of Siempre Unidos will make a “comida típica” (traditional meal) in our honor. Quite a nice treat, do you not agree?”
We do agree, Pascual. The role you and the male staff play in the clinics and community are vital to the well-being of our patients. You provide excellent medical care, financial oversight, emotional support and safety. You model the best in what it means to be a man where masculinity can be fraught with violence and insecurity. Thank you for the love, compassion and strength you share with us all.
