Last month we traveled to the capital, Tegucigalpa, to meet with representatives of the Honduras Secretary of Health, directors of the Health Surveillance and Medical Supply Chain units, and World Health Organization (“Organización Mundial de la Salud” in Spanish as seen in the photo).
The goal of the meeting was to share information and meet the 11 women who oversee the country’s plan to treat people living with HIV. We discussed treatment for our HIV-positive patients and obtained the government’s commitment to provide newer drugs for people failing on older therapies. We consulted with the government on our purchase of a viral load machine to ensure it meets their approval and provides comparative results. The meeting concluded with recognition that Siempre Unidos plays a vital role in testing and treating people with HIV in Honduras.
