“Tina” has a lot to do. A tailor, she sells clothing to customers in their homes and small businesses. The profits support her and the 16 year-old grandson she is raising. She has made enough money to buy her own home, which she plans to leave to the boy.
Siempre Unidos is the beneficiary of her industriousness and generosity. An HIV+ patient since 2003, Tina always attends the monthly support group meetings. In fact, our staff person, Yolany (pictured hugging Tina), says Tina was one of the first persons she met when she learned of her own status. “Tina is a healthy, older, beautiful woman who shows the others that they can live a long time, too,” Yolany says.
When she isn’t working, Tina visits patients in the hospital. “We inspire each other,” she says.
